Makki Trust is a non-profit charitable organisation working to build a stronger, more connected community in Ireland.
Since its inception, we have brought together speakers, educators, and community leaders from Ireland and around the world — creating spaces for learning, dialogue, and connection.
Alongside these gatherings, we run year-round programmes designed around the real needs of families and young people living in Ireland today.

A regular space — by women, for women — for learning, mutual support, and the friendships that sustain a community across generations.

Practical guidance, briefings, and group arrangements for those preparing for the pilgrimage to Makkah, in the year before they travel.

Coordinated Taraweeh prayers — the special nightly prayers of Ramadhan, led by Huffaz (reciters who know the Holy Quran by heart) — organised for the wider Muslim community across Ireland.

Companionship, classes, and practical help for those new to Islam — at any pace, with no pressure, and in plain English where it helps.
Annual international conference
Eighteen years of gathering across Ireland.
Each year, Makki Trust holds its Annual International Conference — a community-wide gathering that has travelled the country since 2007. From Dooradoyle in Limerick, through Cork, the racecourses of Kildare, and now Co. Meath, the conference brings speakers, educators, and community leaders together for a weekend of reflection, learning, and reconnection.

Awaiting Council response
Janazah care for our community in South Dublin.
Among the most quietly important responsibilities a community holds is the care of those it loses. As our community in Lucan and the surrounding areas has grown, so has the need for clear, dignified support through these moments.
Makki Trust has formally requested that South Dublin County Council recognise us as an authorised body to liaise on Muslim burial arrangements at Newcastle Cemetery. The aim is straightforward: a familiar, accessible point of contact for grieving families in the Lucan area, with the dignity and clarity those moments deserve.
We are currently awaiting a response from the Council.
If you are a Council officer, healthcare partner, or community member whose experience could help shape this work, we would genuinely welcome the conversation.
